LEARN TO SKATE
LEARN TO SKATE
The Westonka Learn to Skate program offers beginner skating lessons on Sundays throughout the late Summer, Fall and Winter. This program is run through Westonka Community Education, in coordination with Mound Westonka Hockey Association (MWHA). Learn to Skate is designed to teach children the ABC’S of skating…Agility, Balance, Coordination, and Speed. MWHA has partnered with Learn to Skate USA™. Children will learn how to get up after they fall, proper body position, edge work, stopping and much more. Students will be grouped according to age and ability.
Instruction will be a mix of skill and a lot of learning through play! We teach skills through game play to make sure the children are having fun while working hard. Youth helpers from our hockey association will be on the ice to help with instruction, and we encourage parents to take a seat and enjoy watching your child learn to skate!
All participants will be required to bring their own skates and a helmet (bike or hockey). We do not have any extra equipment for use.
