WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING
Bring skates and a helmet if you have one. Hockey protective equipment will be available to try on and use, if desired.
We have a limited number of skates available to use. If you need skates, email mites@westonkahockey.org and let us know size. We will do our best to find a pair of skates!
How much does it cost?
This event is totally free. Grab some friends and come to the rink! Skate to music, play games, try stickhandling and shooting games, do some arts and crafts, and get a free treat a the concession stand!
Will they be playing hockey on the ice?
No. In order to keep the event accessible for as many people as possible, sticks and pucks will not be allowed on the ice. There will be shooting and stick handling stations off-ice for kids to try.
What is the minimum equipment my skater needs?
To get on the ice, your skater just needs skates and a helmet. There will be protective hockey equipment for your skater to try on and use, but not required. However, it is important that kids learn that falling doesn't hurt with pads on, so protective equipment is encouraged.
My daughter already plays hockey, can they come?
This event is designed for girls who are new to skating, new to hockey, or interested in trying the sport for the first time. We encourage participants to invite a friend who may also be interested in learning about hockey and experiencing the game in a fun, welcoming environment.
Our goal is to keep the focus on introducing the sport, building confidence, and helping new players feel comfortable on the ice.
Thank you for helping us create a positive and inclusive first hockey experience for everyone involved.
